Diana holds a Master of Science Degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. She was born in Lisbon, Portugal, and has three daughters.
Diana is currently the Coordinator of the Geneva Environment Network, a cooperative partnership of over 75 environment and sustainable development organizations based in the Geneva area. She joined UN Environment in December 1998, working first for GRID-Geneva (through a partnership with the University of Geneva), as well as for the former Post-Conflict Assessment Unit and the former Balkans Unit.
Before that, Diana worked for a Regional department of the Ministry of Environment of Portugal and at an NGO based in Geneva. Diana was also a member of the Parliament of the City of Geneva and an active member in a number of trusts and NGOs.
